Carter’s rank was still captain at this point. This (older) sketch was done using a liquid graphite pencil called Ingenuity, made by Papermate. It’s like drawing with a pencil that feels like a ballpoint pen. Definitely an interesting experience.
I don’t know if these “pencils” are still being made. I do know that I have 6 spare refills in addition to the two that came in the two “pencils” I have.

Since the first two tries didn’t quite work out, I decided to try it in pencil. But I think I’ve figured out what I did wrong, so there will probably be another one of these in the near future. Be afraid. Be very afraid…

The face came out too fat, the shading is all wrong. When I realized it wasn’t going quite right, I tried to fix it, but that doesn’t always work.
